Ten on Tuesday

10 on Tuesday

It's Tuesday and I Tuesdays I enjoy linking up with Chelsea's Ten on Tuesday.  The questions today come from Erin and Chelsea is right, she DOES have super cute twins.

1. When someone asks you for a book recommendation, what is your go-to book?
This is not really something I get asked and I know why.  1) I don't read a whole lot and 2) What I do read is mostly non-fiction.  I'm not a big fantasy storybook reader.  Right now I'm reading Adirondack Peak Experiences:

2.  Do you buy your books, or are you a library patron?
I am definitely a library goer.  Sometimes I have like 12 books out at once!  I will only buy a book to read if it's something I REALLY want to read and can't get it at the library or if it's some kind of reference/coffee table book that was on sale.  I like to buy those.

3.  E-readers, yay or nay?
No thanks - I get it for the convienience, like when I was looking for a particular book a couple weeks ago EVERYONE kept saying, "Too bad you don't have a Kindle!!!" and I wanted to be like, "Too bad you have an ugly face!!!"  (No no, I'm kidding I love you all, haha)  I stare at a screen all day, when I want to get in bed and read I want to read a book not another screen.  If the books were significantly cheaper, or if I could download them like visiting a library then maybe I'd see more value, but right now it's just not for me.

4.  What was your favorite book as a child?
I love children's books, I have many favorites but my favorite AS a child was Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.  I also LOVED Roald Dahl books, The Twitches is one of my all time favorites.

5.  If you could be any character in a book, who would you be?
Probably Hermione from Harry Potter.  She's smart, she's a wizard (which is awesome) and she gets to marry Ron Weasley whom I love as a character.

6.  What book would you love to see turned into a movie?
I'm not really sure...I think most of my favorite books have been turned into movies, haha

7.  What is your all-time favorite book?
That Was Then, This Is Now by SE Hinton.  I LOVED this book - I read it in 10th grade and it's left something, it's always what I think of when someone asks me this question.

8.  How many books do you read at once?
I try to stick with one - if I get more than one going at a time I tend to not finish them but sometimes because I take so many out of the library at once I feel I need to be reading them all at once, lol

9.  What is your favorite book genre?
Ooops I didn't see this would be a question, I already answered it kind of, lol  I tend to read non-fiction, usually books on food, history, true stories of survival, the Adirondacks and natural living.  I'm kind of a nerd.  Once in a while I'll pick up a fiction book that someone recommended to me but not if it's a sappy love story - I'm talking like funny chick book, but I think I've read like three of them in my entire life.

10.  Which Harry Potter book is the best?  Or haven’t you read them at all?
My favorite is the first one, just because it's so magical.  I mean yea, there was a little bit of Voldemort drama towards the end but for the most part everything was fresh, new and innocent.  I'm sad that it's all coming to an end, I mean I know the last book has been out for quite a few years now but now that the movies are ending it just makes it all so completely over.

Enjoy your Tuesday!

Ten on Tuesday

Good morning all.  It's Tuesday, and I'm feeling extra crabby today - I have no interest in being here at work, not with people annoying me all day!  I'm also super scared to get weighed in tonight.  What will everyone say when I announce I had a gain?  What will they be thinking?  I knew this day would come, and especially how I ate this past week, I only have myself to blame.

The good thing about Tuesdays is Chelsea's Ten on Tuesday.  And here we goooooo:

1. If you work, do you drive to work or take public transportation?I drive to work - it's about a ten minute drive, but mostly because of traffic lights.  I'm considering riding my bike to work over the summer but it makes me a little nervous to ride on the busy main road.

2. How often do you get your haircut? Do you go to the same person every time?
I get my haircut probably 3-4 times a year.  I don't like to have it too long and it starts to bug me, and when it gets to that point I NEED it cut.  I don't go to the same place to get it cut, but I only go to one hairdresser to get it highlighted.  Which...it's getting to be the time of the year when I do highlight it, but as always I can't ever decide if I want to bother with it again this year or not.

3. Do you read the newspaper? If so, a hardcopy or the online version?
Not really.  If it's available and I'm in a position where I can read it, I will but I tend to just get my news from watching the news or other internet sources.

4. What is the best book you have read this year?
At The Mercy of The Mountains by Peter Bronski.

It's a compilation of stories of survival and tragedy in the Adirondack mountains (obviously that's what the subtitle says) - it was REALLY good.  My kind of book.

5. What is the best movie you have seen this year?
Well, we're only 4 months into the year but I'm not sure.  Considering the last 12 months...I really liked The King's Speech, Sanctum, Harry Potter, Toy Story 3...I love movies.

6. Do you tend to crave sweet or salty foods?
Salty for sure, I'll take a bag of potato chips over chocolate any day.  And if I do have something sweet, I tend to want something salty afterwards.

7. Do you eat breakfast every day? If so, what do you have?
Yes, everyday.  I'd die if I didn't eat breakfast.  It's usually a bagel thin or cereal...I've kind of gone away from eggs.  And usually some kind of fruit or other item to go with it.

8. If you celebrate Easter, what Easter treat/candy are you most looking forward to?
Cadbury candy eggs are my most favorite candy of all time.

9. How late is “sleeping in” to you?
Very rarely will I sleep past 10:00 and that's LATE for me.  I consider it more of a treat if I can take a nap in the middle of the day.

10. Where are you going on your next vacation?
lol - the question isn't where it's WHEN.  I have no vacation time, and I haven't had a vacation in like 3 years.

Link up and play along!
